Event information

The session will include

  • A one-hour information session for parents and athletes covering health, nutrition (with a qualified dietician), and the basics of pole vault.
  • This will be followed by a one-hour session either at McGillivray (for those who have never tried pole vault) or at the stadium for those already involved in pole vault that wish to increase their skills.
  • A light breakfast will be provided.
This is a free event and positions are limited. Click here to register for the event

Athletes will learn the fundamentals of pole vault, including basic technique, safety, and movement skills, guided by some of Australia’s leading coaches. The sessions will provide further opportunity for athletes to develop, progress, and gain confidence in the event.

We are also excited to share that, through the State Government Game On, Girls grant, UWA Athletics Club has secured 12 months of funding to support a female-focused pole vault participation and development program for girls aged 12–18.

This is an opportunity for the Club to increase participation, improve retention and create clear pathways for girls in athletics. It will provide a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where girls can try pole vault, build confidence, develop skills and progress at their own pace. We strongly encourage girls aged 12–18 who are interested in trying pole vault or developing their skills to register their interest.

Whether you’re new to pole vault or looking to try something different, this program is a great opportunity to get involved and develop new skills in a supportive environment.
