Making a complaint

Our Commitment

UWA Athletics Club is committed to providing a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment where all children and young people are respected, valued and protected from harm.

Everyone involved in our Club has a role in creating and maintaining a child-safe environment.

If you are worried about a child

If you believe a child or young person is in immediate danger, contact WA Police on 000 immediately.

Raising a concern

If something doesn't feel right, we encourage you to speak up.

Concerns may relate to:

inappropriate behaviour
bullying or harassment
breaches of the Club's Code of Conduct
child safety concerns
inappropriate communication
unsafe practices
any behaviour that makes a child or young person feel unsafe.

Concerns can be raised by:

children and young people
parents or carers
coaches
volunteers
officials
spectators
members of the community.

How to raise a concern

You can raise a concern by speaking with:

a coach
a committee member
the Club President
the Club Child Safe Officer (once appointed)
or by emailing [info@uwaac.com.au for all senior related issues or contact@uwalac.com for all Little A related issues].

All concerns will be treated respectfully, confidentially (where possible) and taken seriously.

What happens next?

The Club will:

acknowledge your concern;
assess the information provided;
determine the most appropriate response;
where appropriate, manage the matter through the Club's complaints process; and
where required, refer the matter to Athletics West, Sport Integrity Australia or another relevant authority.

Some complaints are managed by Athletics West under the National Integrity Framework.

Where a concern cannot be appropriately resolved at Club level, or falls within Athletics West's jurisdiction, it may be referred to Athletics West for assessment and management in accordance with its complaints process.

Reports relating to child safeguarding, discrimination or other matters under the National Integrity Framework can also be made directly to Sport Integrity Australia. Please click here, Sport Integrity Australia Reporting Portal.
