UWA Athletics Club Financial Assistance

Each year, UWA Athletics Club aim to provide financial assistance to athletes travelling to national or international championship events. This financial assistance is heavily dependent on our fundraising initiatives and applications generally open in February/March each year. Further information is distributed via email to members when available.

UWAAC Nationals Financial Assistance Criteria 

For those that have qualified for an Australian Track & Field Championships, the club offers our members financial assistance.

To apply for the assistance a form will be provided to all members and it must be submited by the deadline provided. Late applications will not be accepted.

Criteria for funding:

  • Athletes must be a UWA Senior club member (for a mimimum of one season)
  • Athletes must have qualified for nationals off the national qualifying standards, not placings at State championships.
  • Athletes that already receive sponsorship from another source may not be eligible.
  • Open national Athletes must wear the FULL uwa uniform when competing at nationals to be eligible for the funding. (Funding will be provided post nationals once confirmation that the full uniform was worn).

Please note the club has limited funding available and applications are assessed on club involvement and support of fundraising activities.

All applications for financial assistance are considered on an individual basis by the club committee. You will be informed of the status of your application once the committee has reached a decision. Decisions are at the complete discretion of the committee and are final.

Addition athlete funding pathways

Australian Sports Commission – Local Sporting Champions

A national grant to help athletes attend championships.

Who: Athletes, coaches and officials aged 12–18
Events: State, National or International Championships
Funding: $500 – $750

  • Base grant: $500

  • +$100 if travelling 800–1999 km

  • +$200 if travelling 2000+ km or internationally

  • +$50 if living in a rural electorate

WA Government – KidSport

Helps families cover participation costs.

Who: WA children aged 5–18
Funding: Up to $300
Covers: Club fees (and sometimes essential equipment/uniforms)

WA Government – Regional Athlete Travel Subsidy Scheme (ATSS)

For athletes travelling from regional WA to competitions or training.

Who: Regional pathway athletes
Funding: Typically ~$600–$1000 depending on category
Covers: Travel and accommodation for competition and development programs
